Obama's Katrina?

Bush's Katrina moment was when he was judged by the government's stranding people at the Super Bowl, not the hurricane itself. These people were on cable all day for four entire days. George Bush was not a supporter of Hurricanes, Inc. It was the after-math that caused problems.

Republicans will not look good, because they backed drilling; they actively did back Big Ocean Oil, Inc.
The only people who will come out good are the ones who warned us.

Big diff.
And... everyone knows it.

And to the surprise of no one, we have a Republican senator opposing raising the liability limits on oil companies for massive despoiling of the environment.

Were I his Master, I would reward him greatly, good and faithful servant that he is.

Correct of course. But actually it's a she: Lisa Murkowski from the great state of Alaska.

Oh, I was thinking about Mr. Sessions. I understand where they're coming from, and were I in the business, it would be of great importance to me.

But it is a prime example of the Socialization of risk: the cap on damages means that someone else will pay, be it the state or the country... or those pesky grandkids were always talking about.

Of course. What's truly disturbing is that this way of operating is accepted as just the way it is done. There are no alternatives. The engine of our government has been so completely dragooned by the malefactors of great wealth, as FDR termed them, that any thought of equity or justice is banished to the realm of fairy tale.

The result of Government For Sale; I have no problem with a number of measures to assist businesses, but this goes way beyond anything probably most of the people in the country approve of.

I smell Dick Cheney around.
