Cynicism

To be a cycnic is to try to place oneself on the outside a "story".
Those who are inside the story have hopes and happy endings, or they have despair and unhappy endings, but the cycnic is the person who stands back at and views everything from the standpoint of an all-seeing entity and judges that what people wish for in the story means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Neither the cycnic nor the happy-enders nor the unhappy-enders have any proof of their beliefs, but the happy-enders are happier.
