Blind Poker

There were no jobs added in August and people are surprised. The markets are down, and I think it is time that anyone who thinks everything is really hunky-dory and keen ought to get out of the markets, so every time bad news comes down the pike - and there has been a whole gaggle of bad newsies walking down the pike... resembling the soldiers of Napoleon struggling back to Paris after a sojourn in Moscow - we do not have to watch them all run for the exits.

The History of our times - we here and now, in the USA and all around the world - is in front os us on the poker table.

We like to pretend that we are playing Draw Poker, and if we do not like our hand, we can draw a couple of cards after the first round of betting is done; and we'll do the same thing after the second round. New cards are our new and better ideas: new ideologies! new ways of doing things! everything will be better if we all just (a) have common sense, or (b) run government like a business, or (c) don't compromise or negotiate!

The problem is that the poker game is a Blind Five Card... all the cards are dealt out, face down, and we are turning them over one at a time, very, very slowly, and betting. We are turning them so slowly it'll take 10 years.

The cards are dealt. We may as well be optimistic and give each other and the future the best we can!
