Bush: A Disgrace?

The Wall Street Journal and Jeffrey Scott Shapiro seem to think that the way President Bush has been treated is a disgrace. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122584386627599251.html The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace What must our enemies be thinking? By JEFFREY SCOTT SHAPIRO What, indeed, must our enemies be thinking? The big minds I bump into on the street say things such as, "Say wot yer will 'bout George Bush, we have not been attacked, mainlandwise, since 2001." Well, we were first attacked on the mainland in 1993, one month after President Clinton's first inauguration. This was the first World Trade Center bombing. Say what you will about President Clinton, we were not attacked again on the mainland until September 11, 2001, just over eight month's from President Bush's first inauguration. However, we must remember that we were also attacked - non-Islamically and mainlandwise - in 1995 in the Oklahoma City bombing of the Murrah Building. Then there was Waco in 1992 and Ruby Ridge in 1986, both of which were government attacks on civilians. So we have not been attacked by our own government since Bush became President...but this may be due to the fact that they did strip our rights from us. The abilitity to illegally wiretap must have sated the government's desire to attack. And so on. We have not been attacked, but it seems a matter of time. Our "enemies" do not have the same ability to launch attacks as we do, witness yet another attack on an Afghani wedding party last week. I think that makes five or six instances of real wedding bell blues we've inflicted on that country. Looking at the dates of the above attacks, it seems one is due sometime in 2009 or 2010. I predict it and I predict it while Bush is still in office...furthermore, I place the blame squarely at his doorstep. The man who launched an illegal war based on ridiculously vague information and which has killed a million or so people is being treated disgracefully? The man who broached the topic of torture into the White House is treated disgracefully? The man who said ol' Wall Street has one too many and needs to sober up...he has been treated disgracefully? This is the man who has now directed the nation along the path of the next generation of nuclear warheads. The man who is about to pardon Scooter Libby for lieing, Abramov for corruption, as well as VP Cheney and himself for contravening the Geneva Conventions has not been treated the way he deserves. That I shall agree with; he indeed has not been treated with the full contempt he deserves.
