New Project

I am thinking about a e-zine. Originally it was for poetry; needless to say I get tired of sending things out to "poetry" publishers and being rejected, so maybe I should do my own. Then why not extend it a bit? Why not extend it to anything that may be represented in the format of an e-zine: writing, photography, drawing, etc.

I was thinking of calling it Poesis which is Greek for "a making",  but not that many people know or actively care about Greek and our Graeco-Roman history, so nix on the Greek.
So why not just "Making"... or "Making It..." ? It nicely reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel: "...not really making it.... this feeling of faking it..." so it would be a title that is not only not pretentiously preening itself on the pedestal of Academia and Greek and Latin, but contains within itself a sense of the Ironic.
Any suggestions will be considered, however. I jump at "Making It" because I am slothful and don't want to spend a great deal of time on titular work.

Ruth seems enthusiastic. I shall impose on her for a great deal of work.
What about you, Baysage? Oh, Oklahoman Orpheus !

Willing and ready. Hope the work will come! If you build it, it will come. It's exciting to think about being in on the ground breaking of Poesis, a name that reflects your sensibilities much better than "Making," etc.

Hmmmm... I did not want to emphasize my sensibilities, but... perhaps that would be the correct way to go about it. Thanks for making me think.

I'm in. Just now getting to this post. I've been out of town and then up to the eyes in work, which I will always have as long as I'm still doing history projects. Maybe this endeavor is just the sort of thing to take my mind off a couple of grim bumps my life has recently taken.

Not so sure I'm crazy about Poesis or Making. Maybe we should think about the motivation or purpose rather than the sensibility . . .

There is time to consider.

To be very honest with everyone, for me a title is a flag or a pennant, catching the eye and signifying no specific thing, rather having a million meanings.

I just watched "Black Orpheus" again... and Cocteau's "Orphee"...
hmmm..........

I've always thought that Kumquat was the most interesting word in the language. I've always wanted a shirt that said "Kumquat" on the front of it.

That raises the unhappy possibility of a t-shirt that has "I'm with Kumquat" on the front of it.

"Kumquat" is switches dreamily between good taste - fruit and sunshine- and a hint of pornography.

Hmmmm.... a point is trying to be made here.

Your point or mine? :-)

Oh..... the two syllables - the damnable syllables of that fruit of Eden!! - are much too redolent of too many other things: blatant things, rhyming things, things beginning with "qu".

It's a good thing I do not eat kumquats, because I do not think I could put one in my mouth after this.
