In reprisal for endangering its drug money flows, the Bush Administration removed Bolivia's most favored trading partner status. At the same time, the Bush Administration was pushing for Columbia's trade treaty. Columbia knew how to play the Drug Game.

Did you know that our "success" in eradicating or severely crimping the drug trade in Colombia has led to the situation of near anarchy in Mexico, to which the drug trade shifted? I read that 5,700 people were killed there last year in drug-related shootings. Another triumph of our war on drugs.
