The Trump Test

Obviously Donald Trump is the exact response to have to answer someone who states that what the USA needs is a president who is a highly successful businessman.

Then there is Dov Charney of American Apparel also.

And not mentioning any names, but if CEOs are picked on the basis of short-term return to shareholders, then many CEOs will be psychopathological items that lay off thousands of workers, which acts are regarded as masterful strokes of business genius.

To be good in one field does not guarantee success in another, nor are the talents for being the executive of a large country the same as those for being the executive of a business. For that matter, what it takes to be successful in one business is not necessarily what it takes to be successful in a different business.

Furthermore, it is one thing to speak your mind and be a straight talker, and quite another to broadcast utter trash just because it comes from your mind.  And one cannot make a silk purse from a sow's ear, no matter how preciously the popular media may talk about it.

God The Businessman

My mother liked Mitt Romney because he was such a successful businessman.

That logic only goes a short way, however.

Were God a businessman, the Universe would still not yet be created...

The Return On Investment would not be right, the turn around would not be fast enough, and the whole project would just be too, too speculative.
Better to have a committee as the Divine Designer and let them take some collective responsibility...

When we write our tithing checks, we are treating God like some divine Creditor or Holy vendor already, aren't we? 10% due 10th mo. prox.
The deal is He gives us life and blessings... and some bad stuff... and we give him praise and 10% tithing. A solid quid pro quo, if there ever was one.

That's probably why we changed "Forgive us our debts..." to "Forgive us our trespasses..."

The check is in the mail.

When The Growth Phase Ends

The growth phase of Walmart is long over. I have often written about the one near me: my Walmart ! It is a dump peopled with odd entities. The greeters particularly are like the Sand People.

Let's find the country's worst Walmart.
Start in Michigan and read the reviews. The one on Mound Road in Sterling Heights sounds unusually awful.

After we get done with this sophomoric humor part, why is it that our system has these cycles? This is not "creative destruction", rather it is "planned obsolescence" in the sense that as much has been milked from the system as is possible.

In the meantime, the small town stores have disappeared.

Well done!
