Trump NOT Briefed By Navy On Ford Catapult; Loves ‘Goddamned Steam’ Anyway

[note: The Ford is the aircraft carrier USS Ford and EMALS is the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System.]

...Here’s what Trump told Time magazine about EMALS (and other things) in an extraordinary interview published yesterday:

“You know the catapult is quite important. So I said what is this? Sir, this is our digital catapult system. He said well, we’re going to this because we wanted to keep up with modern [technology]. I said you don’t use steam anymore for catapult? No sir. I said, ‘Ah, how is it working?’ ‘Sir, not good. Not good. Doesn’t have the power. You know the steam is just brutal. You see that sucker going and steam’s going all over the place, there’s planes thrown in the air.'”

“It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And it’s very complicated, you have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I said–and now they want to buy more aircraft carriers. I said what system are you going to be–’Sir, we’re staying with digital.’ I said no you’re not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it’s no good.”

By “digital,” Trump presumably means EMALS uses electromagnetic energy rather than steam, allowing for a smaller system with fewer moving parts, and hence less need for expensive maintenance...

I think this interview makes us wonder why in the name of heaven electors put this man in charge of a nuclear arsenal. I mean, there is all those End-of-Times and post-disaster themes all around us, and the people who voted for this man created a clear and well-defined threat to our well-being.

We always talk about whose thumb is on the button.
We have elected an extremely odd individual to a position which controls nuclear arms.

We actually went to war in Iraq to keep Weapons of Mass Destruction from control of a mad man!

Then there is the Trump who deeply thinks about concepts like "loyalty"...

After acting FBI boss breaks with Trump talking points, White House won’t confirm confidence in him

...Spicer’s comments about the president’s confidence or lack thereof in McCabe came amid a swirl of reports that Comey’s refusal to pledge personal loyalty to Trump played a large role in his firing. McCabe, during his testimony, indicated his goal is to do “the right thing,” which he characterized as “protecting the American people, and upholding the Constitution.”

During an interview with Fox News that was recorded on Friday, Trump denied ever asking Comey to pledge his loyalty, but argued it wouldn’t have been inappropriate for him to do so.

“I don’t think it’s inappropriate,” Trump said. “I think loyalty to the country, loyalty to the United States is important—you know, I mean, it depends on how you define loyalty.” ...

"... it depends on how you define loyalty."?
What in the name of heaven is that?!

Top Trump official says we shouldn’t take care of someone who ‘eats poorly and gets diabetes’

A top White House official tried to defend the American Health Care Act (AHCA)— the GOP’s response to Obamacare — earlier this week by implying that health care systems shouldn’t help someone who “sits at home, eats poorly and gets diabetes.”

According to the Washington Examiner, Mick Mulvaney of the Office of Management and Budget delivered the line on Thursday while speaking to the LIGHT Forum at Stanford University. Mulvaney was asked whether he agreed with the “Jimmy Kimmel test” — or the idea famously forwarded by the late-night show host that “No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life.” Kimmel made the quip while delivering an impassioned account of his newborn son’s struggle to survive a congenital heart disease...

And this is less than a week after the Group Trump decided to deep six Michelle Obama's program to provide healthy lunches for school children, so on one hand we make no effort for healthy food, and then when you get sick from the unhealthy food, no health care.

It makes sense in our world.
