Q of Al Qa'ida

 

Head of Al Qa'ida's Q Section

Rather like the world of James Bond, there is a Q Branch of Al Qa'ida, and it is run by the appropriately named Mr. Qāf.  The Q Section is the Research and Development Branch of Al Qa'ida.
(Bin Laden famously said that operatives should always see Qāf for any equipment needs they had, although some people trace his often repeated,  " qaf! qaf!", to his smoking.)

It was Qāf who developed the Underwear Binary Explosive Device, such as that worn (uncomfortably) by Mr. Mutallib during his airplane flight to Detroit.
