Let's Be Frank
Egypt is in a state of emergency, people have been killed, and John Kerry is looking up the definition of "coup".
Let's be frank: we really do not care a fig for democracy when it gets in our way.
If democracy means the Muslim Brotherhood, throw it into the dustbin.
If democracy means the government cannot create a total surveillance state, then so much the worse for democracy.
The fact is fairly obvious that we are on a trend line to totalitarianism again. We'll suffer for a while, go to some gulags, join the resistance, die in heaps, and hide in attics.
Then the dawn of democracy will come again, and we'll gambol on the grass... for a while...
