The Depression times of the 1930's had their Dust Bowl, as depicted in The Grapes of Wrath. We may be getting ready for another. Here's July 5's version of the Dust Bowl 2011 from John McCain's own, private Arizona, as dust storms spread across the state and caused cancellation of all flights in or out:

Wow. That's stunning. And scary.
Is that fall-out or something from all of the wildfires out there?
I did not see any causes; it may just be a bit greater than normal dust storm.
And at least it is not arable land that is being blown away ( I hope! ), as it was in the 30's.
The best shots were of people sitting in outdoor cafes - for some reason - and the dust refracting the lights around them.
