Young Augustus
Too much lately have I read about the despicable Karl Rove, the witless George W. Bush, and the malevolent and villainous Richard Nixon.
I was discussing things with Arsen yesterday whether we were in a time parallel to that of the rise of Augustus in Rome....
I still wonder. Nixon was as ghastly and treacherous as Tiberius; Bush was as useless as Caligula. Rove was and is the spirit of a base people in base times: a personification of all that is wrong politically, whose influence was so exceedingly large and baleful that those who come after him look like feeble midgets - the Cains, the Romneys, the Gingriches.
