I have been meditating on the inequities of Science for Profit and Science for Well-being and noting the imbalance between the two: massive investment in nuclear power versus completely ignoring used nuclear fuel.
Irony as a sudden reversal of fortune or of focus reminds me of a swing of a pendulum, swinging from one extreme pole to the other extreme, bypassing the Equilibrium and Balance point.
Are there any true Equilibrium-seeking processes in human affairs? Or are we condemned to the wild swings of bubbles in economics and vast inequities in wealth? Many religious leaders have spoken against the enormous inequity of wealth. Mary, the mother of Jesus, said "He (God) cast the mighty from their thrones, and raises the lowly."
A reversal, an irony.
Perhaps we seek a process whereby all become aware that we do unto others as we would for ourselves, and if our brothers and sisters are elevated, so are we; if our brothers and sisters are cast down, we willingly follow them.
In the end, there is no difference between us.
The inequities of this existence are blown away by the wind.
