10th Anniversary of Iraq

Iraq was the visible beginning of the end for us...

It is continuing; it continues because we tolerate it:

Today I read that the heroine Malala, shot by the Taliban, is going back to school. The story is well covered.

Marwa

Yesterday I read about Marwa, who lost a leg in an air raid in Baghdad in 2003:
...As the bombs fell, Marwa decided to take her sister Adra and run from the house. When you ask her why, where she was running to, she shakes her head thoughtfully as though shaking off the memory of the noise, and confusion and terror.
She and Adra were just running to get away from the noise, chased by the sound of the explosions. She remembers running and running. And then there was one final explosion.
Adra, who was only eight years old, was dead.
And Marwa would never run anywhere ever again...

I shall never forget the depths of the perfidy and the lies told to us by our leaders, and they were bald-faced about it. They lied right to our faces and did not flinch. I had never seen anything like it in my life.

The Best and Brightest still frighten me.

The War in Iraq was a Lie based on Lies, and no one was ever held accountable.
No one has ever been held accountable for any of the life-destroying crimes perpetrated since then.
