Answers To Old Questions: The Universal Blues
Do you like the Blues?
Do the Blues make you smile? Cry? Feel good or bad?
Do they make you think of hard times in the midst of good times?
The Blues are the Singer and the Song, the Singer and the Audience, the past of all and the hopes of all.
The Blues are the present and the past.
The Blues are all these things in one complicated ("complicated" in the sense of "rolled up and layered together") experience.
The Blues are the pleaching and interweaving of growing things with a history and a future, and they just keep on keeping on.
So, why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?
You do not understand the Blues; you live and feel the Blues.
We hear the Universal Blues, yet deny the Singer and the Song.
