Dark Matter is posited to explain gravitational effects, while Dark Energy is posited to explain effects opposite to gravity; i.e., why things fly apart.
So we have Gravity, and as we study it, we study curvature of space that is the reason why objects of mass approach each other. It seems logical that an "anti-curvature" of space would explain why objects repel each other.
Dr. M. Wanas in Egypt has been working on this approach to develop an explanation of Dark Matter and Dark Energy.
