Mr. Chavez Passes

I shall miss Mr. Chavez.

He was not perfect, but he did not allow himself to be deceived by the trillion dollar shenanigans of lost hope and blasted dreams that was the wheeze of these two:

The fiascoes of the first eight years of the 21st century are the culminating causes of our present problems, and we shall feel their effects for years to come, as they continue to roll over us and impoverish our families.

Mr. Chavez was a real person. He may have been abrasive at times, but he was not thoughtlessly arrogant...
Mr. Chavez was not born into arrogance and disdain, nor did he learn it at institutions of higher class distinctions and social inequality.

One winter during our Iraq War, Mr. Chavez offered heating oil at a discounted price to the poor of various parts of the USA.
I do not recall any American Oil Company doing so.

Requiescas in pace, amice.
