Latin Rulz!
When I was at Lakeside Mall buying my newly-won size 36 trousers (won in the Battle of the Bulge), I was also people watching, and watching all the kids mall walking.
Ovid in his Ars Amatoria recommends the porticus : a covered walk between columns, colonnade, piazza, arcade, gallery, porch, portico running along the forum and market areas; i.e., a mall, as being an excellent place to meet girls.
Juvenal also mentions it in his Satires.
(Note for Auxilium Latinum members: porticus is 4th declension, female gender.)
